Not to rant here but I need to!The shelter hires a vet staff that barely graduated and are total idiots. I usually have to do online research and figure out what I think is wrong and give them suggestions so that they can prescribe me the meds that I think I need because they can’t diagnose anything! I know of countless animals in the care of other foster moms who have died because the shelter vet staff couldn’t properly diagnose. It’s been MONTHS and they still haven’t given me medicine that will cure Annabelle of her ear infection and be adopted. Now, in the wake of kitten season nobody will be looking for a 7 month old kitten and poor Annabelle will have months to go before she can find her forever home. The staff there knows that she gets aggressive around them, this is not something foreign to them - many animals are like that. Instead of wrapping her in a towel to prevent themselves from getting scratched like they normally do, the good-for-nothing vet tech brings her back gets a scratch on her arm and reports it to the department of health as a possible rabies case!!!!!!!! WTF.Legally, the shelter is supposed to keep Annabelle, a 7 month old kitten, in quarantine for 10 days all by herself, without human contact or animal contact. Just sitting in a little metal cage all by herself.I had to go through all kinds of crap today with the city to qualify as a rabies quarantine area so that she can stay with me and not be cruelly ignored.Shitty vet staff that just wanted to euthanize her because she was going to be too much work to make healthy has done everything in their power to screw things up for her including major complications in her spay surgery (which they do about 50 times a day). And to top it off: Annabelle still has her ear infection!!!

My BFF and first senior foster cat, Dracula, waiting in the clinic for his check-up!
Apr 5th, 2012 rent-a-riot: I live in New Jersey. If I know anybody who wants a cat, I'll keep your blog in mind. Unfortunately 3 is the limit for my house. But you're great, I'm actually considering training my tortie to be a therapy cat.

Thank you so much! I want the word to get out about these poor cats in the city shelter and I’m always hoping that a photo of a kitty will strike someone’s eye in a “I gotta save that cat!” kinda way!

It’s great that you were able to save 3!
I think that’s a great idea! We take the fosters to the senior centers sometimes and it will make your week! You will love it!!
