My dazzling foster kitty, Hope.
She is so sweet and affectionate and awesome and has been through so much and really deserves to find her special someone.
She was found giving birth on a major highway on the streets of Philadelphia and was then taken to Animal Care and Control. She sat at the shelter for 1-2 weeks (which is a long time during kitten season to last as a momma cat at animal control without being euthanized). Unfortunately, her and her kittens all caught serious Upper Respiratory Infections while in the shelter.

The day that she came home with me one of her 4 kittens passed away. The next day another kitten passed away and one week later the URI took her third kitten. Poor Hope was feeling so depressed and so sick that she did not voluntarily eat for 2 weeks, forcing me to make matters worse with constant force feeding of food and water. Then, she started feeling better and eating and her 4th kitten was growing fast and becoming increasingly more alert and curious.

Here we are a couple of months later and she has gone through a complete turn around and acts just like a kitten. She’s also been an amazing mother cat to her surviving kitten, Aaron, and even became an amazing mother to another kitten that was on death row, Henry. She treats Henry like her own and never thought twice about nursing him and taking care of him.
This amazing cat needs somewhere that she can finally lay her head down and know she never has to move around or become pregnant again.

Reminiscing on photos of my previous fosters.

This is Dracula. He was a senior cat that had extremely long canines and some bad breath! He had a lot of factors working against him that made him “un-adoptable”. He is a senior, all black, and needed expensive dental work because he previous owners did not take good care of him. He was underweight but extremely sweet and affectionate.
Well, I took him into foster care and he got a dental and had all but 2 of his teeth removed. It turns out that his canines were so prominent because they were rotting out of his mouth and slowly falling out - OUCH!

This awesome guy got adopted only a short month after his dental by an amazing family! I miss him tons but am so happy for him!

This is Amos, about 2 weeks ago in the animal shelter. She had sat there for a few weeks and her time was running out, so she joined me in foster care because she was too sweet to resist. It’s so amazing that she will be going into her forever home on Thursday! I have never had a foster cat come and go so quickly - I am so happy that she is finally going to have a forever family.

My newest foster, sweet Henry, is exhibiting symptoms of panleukopenia and it is completely heartbreaking. Panleauk as taken more kittens over the rainbow bridge this summer from my fellow foster parents than I’d like to think about.

This is Henry!

Someone found him crying in a cemetery and brought him into the shelter and since black kitties aren’t very “adoptable” they only gave him until 6pm tonight to find foster care before they were going to put him to sleep. Luckily, I love black kitties and pledged for him and am going to get him tomorrow morning! I am so excited to meet him! More pictures to come

Some say it has to do with not showing up as well in pictures, others believe people’s superstitions of black cats have an impact on their decision process. One study found that black cats were about half as likely to be adopted as tabby cats and two-thirds less likely than white cats.

But for cats in general, the odds are not good: of the approximately 3,000 cats of all colors offered for adoption during the nine months of that study, only around 600, or 20 percent, found homes. Those remaining were euthanized.

Every kitten born is a death sentence for a shelter cat. Please ✂ fix your pets ✂ and consider adopting a black animal.

I love this person for this post. I foster more black animals than any other color because they are the most likely to be euthanized and I go to the shelter and people don’t even look in the cage and take the time to meet the black animals.
